Today, the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Clean Energy Smart Manufacturing Innovation Institute (CESMII) announced selections totaling up to $1 million for five projects to identify ways to use smart-manufacturing technologies to improve productivity, precision, performance and energy efficiency.

Bolstering domestic manufacturing is a top priority for the Trump Administration. In a report titled, “Strategy for American Leadership in Advanced Manufacturing,” the White House calls for new, smart-manufacturing technologies to “facilitate a digital transformation in the manufacturing sector by enabling the application of big data analytics and advanced sensing and control technologies to a host of manufacturing activities.”

SAN DIEGO, July 14, 2020 (Newswire.com) – Ectron Corporation (www.ectron.com) today announced it has joined Microsoft Azure Certified for Internet of Things (IoT), ensuring customers get IoT solutions up and running quickly with hardware and software that has been pre-tested and verified to work with Microsoft Azure IoT services. Microsoft Azure Certified for IoT allows businesses to reach customers where they are, working with an ecosystem of devices and platforms, allowing for faster time to production.

Ectron Corporation has been selected for participation in the U.S. Navy’s SeaPort Next Generation (SeaPort-NxG) multiple-award contract vehicle, which is estimated to annually award approximately $5 billion over the next 10 years.

Ectron has capabilities in embedded computing, systems engineering and program management for complex systems design and development. It’s thermocouple simulator-calibrator, the Model 1140A, has been a mainstay, high precision industry leading product for many years and has been consistently used by Naval PMEL.

Ectron Corporation (https://ectron.thomasnetdev.com) based in San Diego California and Xceler Systems (https://www.xcelersystems.com) announce that they will work in jointly developing products for the Industrial IoT and embedded/ruggedized computer markets.

The first product is going to be an Arduino compatible development hosting an FPGA for general purpose use as well as IoT applications to be launched mid quarter. The companies also announced they will work together to launch other system and sub-system level products based on the Xceler Graph processor technology in embedded and computing markets.

The recent rise of artificial intelligence (AI) can be partly attributed to improvements in graphics processing unit (GPU) processors, mostly deployed in cloud server architectures. GPUs are massively parallel processors that can map well to the large number of vector and matrix multiplication calculations that need to be performed in deep learning.

The convergence of the Internet of Things ( IoT), robotics, big data and machine learning will create enormous opportunities for industrial firms as well as significant challenges.

It should come as no surprise that IoT is one of the most eagerly anticipated trends in heavy industry. Powered by a host of technologies, including low-cost sensors, IP and wireless networks, private and public clouds, and powerful edge infrastructure, industrial IoT promises to transform the way companies provide products and services and interact with customers and partners.
