NEWS RELEASE

Message from the CEO
San Diego, CA, April 2009 –
These are tough economic times for almost everyone including
most companies but fortunately, Ectron has been faring quite well.
Sales have been down but we have kept busy rebuilding our finished
goods stock. Fortunately OEM sales have only dropped slightly
and their backlog is still holding up well. The fact that Ectron
has a diversified product line is a big help in this economic climate.
We have temporarily cut back on hours for production personnel
but the good news is that we have had no layoffs except for a
couple of temp workers. And the future looks good with quote
activity holding up well and some big jobs on the horizon. If we
are awarded one or two of these large bids we may well be adding personnel.
We recently participated in the Measurement Science Conference
in Anaheim, CA and Michael Fontes, Sales Manager, brought
some solid leads from that show. Also, if you subscribe to Cal LAB
Magazine you will note our recurring ad for the 1140A Thermocouple
Simulator-Calibrator. These two recent marketing activities should
benefit sales of Ectron products. In the sales expansion area, we added
two new members to the Ectron global sales team. In the Midwest
we welcomed Precision Measurement Products (PMP) to the team.
In Japan we signed on Ohte Giken Inc. from Tokyo to lead our
Japanese sales and marketing efforts.
Our hearts go out to the many people that have been laid off,
especially those that have lost their homes and have kids to support.
Let’s hope that the new administration in Washington
can improve things soon.
Sincerely,
E. Earl Cunningham, President and CEO
